American Red Cross Asks Donors to Rock n’ Roll Up Their Sleeves This February

MILWAUKEE, WI. (Tuesday, February 12, 2008) – It’s time to celebrate the gift of life and donate blood. Join 97.3 The Brew and the American Red Cross on February 25 for the 1st Annual Rock n’ Roll Up Your Sleeves Day.

Enjoy an afternoon of special food provided by Milio’s Sandwiches, treats and giveaways. All blood donors who donate at the Rock n’ Roll Up Your Sleeves blood drive will receive a free t-shirt and have a chance to win free tickets to see Bruce Springsteen or WWE Presents Raw. Every presenting donor will also receive a buy-one-get-one-free ticket voucher to a Milwaukee Bucks game.
“Giving blood is one of the most important things you can do,” says Tony Procaccio, CEO of the local Red Cross Blood Services region. “The hour it takes to give the gift of life could mean a lifetime to a patient with a serious medical need. It’s going to be a fun afternoon. Bring a friend so you can both roll up your sleeves and donate!”
The Tommy Thompson Youth Center is located off of I-94, at the 84th Street exit – enter the Wisconsin State Fair Grounds at Gate 5.
How to Donate Blood
Simply call 1.800.GIVE.LIFE (1.800.448.3543) or visit givebloodgivelife.org to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license, or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Donors must be at least 17 years old, and must weigh at least 110 pounds.
